Advertising Terms

Last updated: June 9, 2026

Old Norse Dictionary may display advertisements to support hosting, maintenance, editorial improvements, and continued free access to the dictionary. These terms explain how advertising appears on the site and how it relates to our content.

Advertising Independence

Advertisements do not determine dictionary entries, search results, source descriptions, or editorial interface text. We aim to keep advertising clearly separated from reference content so users can read and browse without confusion.

Ad Partners

Ads may be provided by Google AdSense or other advertising partners. These partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve, measure, and improve advertisements. Their collection and use of data is governed by their own policies and user controls.

Ad Placement

We place ads in selected areas such as between content sections, within long lists, or beside supporting navigation. We avoid placing ads inside search forms, primary navigation, interactive lookup fields, or controls where they would interfere with the main dictionary experience.

Sponsored or Affiliate Links

If the site includes sponsored links, affiliate links, or paid recommendations in the future, we will identify them where appropriate. We may receive compensation if a visitor clicks an affiliate link or completes a qualifying action, but compensation does not guarantee a positive mention or placement.

Prohibited Ad Categories

We reserve the right to block or remove advertisements that are misleading, malicious, discriminatory, adult-oriented, or otherwise unsuitable for an educational reference site.

No Endorsement

The appearance of an advertisement does not mean that Old Norse Dictionary endorses the advertiser, product, service, claim, or destination website. Users should evaluate third-party offers independently.

Questions About Ads

If an advertisement appears broken, intrusive, inappropriate, or misleading, please let us know with the page URL and a brief description so we can review it.
