St. 51, Grág. i. 417, ii. 307, in the last passage also of sucking pigs, calves or kids; kvíga (a ‘quey’ or young cow) með tvá dilka, Ísl. ii. 401; in Icel. households the lambs are separated from the mother in June, this is called ‘færa frá,’ the time ‘fráfærur,’ the lamb ‘fráfæru-lamb;’ the lambs that are left with the mother all the summer are called ‘dilkar’ as opp. to ‘fráfæru-lamb.’
