- n. [better hýski, from hús], a household, family, cp. hjú, Edda 5, Hkr. 197, Fms. vi. 368, Al. 21, n. G. l. ii. 473, Hom. 152, Stj. 57; but, in mod. usage at least, used almost exclusively in a low sense, of beggars and low people.
