m. [an A. S. word, as the root vowel á = ei shews]:—a loadsman, pilot, guide; Keisarinn sendi konungi herlið mikit ok láðmenn af sínu ríki, FmS. xi. 313, v. l. (cp. the verse), FaS. ii. 304 (in a verse).
