Meaning of Old Norse word "lög-mark" (or lǫg-mark)

lög-mark (lǫg-mark)

n. a lawful mark on sheep, Grág. i. 416, ii. 308, 309.

Orthography: The Cleasby & Vigfusson book used letter ö to represent the original Old Norse vowel ǫ. Therefore, lög-mark may be more accurately written as lǫg-mark.
