Meaning of Old Norse word "lög-sekt" (or lǫg-sekt)

As defined by the Cleasby & Vigfusson Old Norse to English dictionary:

lög-sekt (lǫg-sekt)

or lög-sekð, f. ‘law-guilt,’ penalty, one of the three degrees of outlawry, Grág. i. 119.

Orthography: The Cleasby & Vigfusson book used letter ö to represent the original Old Norse vowel ǫ. Therefore, lög-sekt may be more accurately written as lǫg-sekt.
