neisa
u, f., mod. hneisa, which form also occurs in old vellums, [Swed. nesa]:—shame, disgrace; this is the true form, as is shewn by the allit. in Hm. 48 and Fm. 11; and also in phrases like, niðra ok neisa; for references see hneisa. neisu-ligr, adj. shameful, degrading.
