rýja
rý, rúði or rýði, part. rúinn, [Scot. roo], prop. to pluck the wool off sheep instead of shearing, as is still done in Icel.; rýja gemlinga, Sd. 155; hann görði Loptr rúinn, L. pulled it off, of a twig, Fsm.: the word is freq. in mod. usage, metaph., hnígr þá úr höndum mér, harpan strengja rúin, the harp stripped of its cords,m. (fine); ó-rúinn, unplucked.
