u, f. [from kilting, q. v.], the ‘kilt,’ lap; hann greip taflit ok steypir í kjöltu sér, Fas. iii. 629, Skáld H. 6. 37: esp. of a woman, hafa barn í kjöltu, kjöltu-barn, a ‘lap-bairn,’ a baby; kjöltu-rakki, a lap-dog.
