Meaning of Old Norse word "spörr" (or spǫrr)
As defined by the Cleasby & Vigfusson Old Norse to English dictionary:
- spörr (spǫrr)
- m., gen. spörs, Ýt. 8. but sparrar, Landn. 135, [A. S. spearwa; Engl. sparrow; Dan. spurv; cp. Fr. épervier]:—a sparrow, Edda (gl.); spórr einn, Hkr. i. 24: as a nickname, Landn. l. c.: the word is, however, rarely used in Icel.
