þrefi
a, m. [A. S. þraf; Engl. thrave = number of two dozen, Johnson]:—a number of sheaves, a thrave, Edda ii. 491; cp. Dan. ‘en trave korn;’ in the phrase, raunlítið kemst opt á þrefa, small efforts soon make a shock, i. e. small matters soon grow into a quarrel, Mkv.; or is the metaphor from þref? cp. Gísl. 44 (above S. v. þref).
