Germ. diebs-genosse, Dan. hæler), such as a receiver of stolen goods, Grág. ii. 190; ef maðr flytr þjóf yfir óduldr, þá hefir hann fyrir-gört húð sinni ok heiti þ., Gþl. 418: the saying, þjófrinn þrífst en þjófs-nautrinn aldri, the thief may thrive but the thief’s accomplice never, i. e. he is even worse than the thief himself; ílla er þá ef ek em þjófsnautr, Nj. 75.
