1. f., gen. desjar, pl. desjar, = Scot. and North. E. dass or dess (a hay-rick), cp. also Gael. dais; menn eru við heygarð þinn ok reyna desjarnar, Boll. 348; hey-des, a hay-dass, Bs. 54, Sturl. i. 83, 196: it exists in local names as Desjar-mýri in the cast, Des-ey in the west of Icel.

2. n. [cp. Swed. desman], musk, in the compd des-hús, n. a smelling box for ladies to wear on the neck, of gold or ivory.
