1 for-ynja

u, f. an appearance or foreboding: hygg ek at þetta sé f. þín, Fb. i. 67; nú hygg ek at þetta beri þína forynju, ok sér þú svikinn, Ó. T. 3; f. eðr fyrirfari hinnar fremri tignar, Bs. i. 682.

2 for-ynja

β. a spectre, Germ. scheusal; þegi þú yfir þeim, f. (thou monster!), Ld. 326, v. l.; and so in mod. usage.
