ð and t, [a causal answering to stúpa, staup]:—to ‘make stoop,’ cast down, overthrow (Germ. stürzen), with dat.; at vér steypim hánum, Fms. vii. 261; s. þínum úvinum, viii. 220; at eigi mætti ofsi lögum s., x. 120, Hkr. i. 72; s. niðr e-u, to throw down, Barl. 152; s. hjálminum þeim inum gullroðna, Fms. vii. 242; þeir steyptu fimm konungum í eina keldu, Ó.
