also spelt sýgja, u, f. the suture of a ship (súð is the board, sýja the single suture, a súð therefore contains so and so many sýjur); komnar vóru níu sýjur á hvárt borð (mod. saumför), Fms. viii. 196; kjalar, stála, súða, sýgju, Edda 66; kjöl-sýja, q. v.
