m. [klining, Ivar Aasen], buttered bread; kasta klíningnum ok könnunni, cp. the Engl. proverb ‘to throw the helve after the hatchet,’ Fms. viii. 413, v. l.: as a nickname, Orkn.: the word is still used in the old sense in Norway.

2 klíningr

II. in Icel. it is only used of cakes of cow-dung.
