u, f. the ‘rudder strap,’ the loop by which the tiller is worked (sec hamla), Gþl. 122; sitja við stýri-hömlu, Ó. H. 16; skiptusk menn við stýrihömlurnar, Fms. viii. 383: in the phrase, ræna e-n stýrihömlu, to take the skipper’s place, N. G. L. i. 98.
