a, m., -skál, f., -ker, [Old Engl. maser-bowl], n. a bowl or vessel of maple, Fms. vi. 184, Karl. 53, Vm. 58, Dipl. iii. 4; such bowls are freq. mentioned in inventories of churches, Vm. 58; cp. mid. H. G., where maser is even used of a chalice, a maple-wood cup.
