m. = rúgr; a provinc. Icel. form, occurs in a verse in Gísl., where rúfr rhymes with húfa; as also in the local name Rúf-eyjar in western Icel., Sturl. i. 10, 26, Landn. 92 (v. l.), where it is even spelt Rup-eyjar.
