að, to worship, honour; t. sik konungs-nafni, to assume a king’s name, Fms. x. 387; skal ek þau aldri tigna, I shall never worship them(the gods), i. 98; t. líkneskjur, Barl. 171.

2 tigna

2. reflex. to be glorified, exalted, Bs. i. 141, Fms. x. 177; tignaðr veldi ok virðingu, Magn. 434; af-tigna and an-tigna (qs. and-tigna), to depreciate.
