S. tôl; Engl. tool], tools; tangir skópu ok tól görðu, Vsp.; hamar, töng ok steðja ok þaðan af öll tól önnur, Edda 9; brjóta borgina með þess-konar tölum sem þar til hæfði, Al. 11; skolpa ok nafra ok öll önnur þau tól er til skipsmíðar þarf at hafa, Sks. 31; tönn snúin svá sem hón sé með tólum gör, 131, passim; smiðar-tól, graf-tól (qq. v.); tóla-kista, a tool-chest, Fs. 176, Ísl. ii. 81.
