Hökul-skúaðr
Old Norse Dictionary - hökul-skúaðr
Meaning of Old Norse word "hökul-skúaðr" (or hǫkul-skúaðr)
As defined by the Cleasby & Vigfusson Old Norse to English dictionary:
- hökul-skúaðr (hǫkul-skúaðr)
- part., prob. wearing a kilt and brogues like a Highlander, FmS. ix. 512; this word is also, in the various MSS. to l. c., spelt with or without the h, see Fb. iii. 151 (ökulskoðr).
Orthography: The Cleasby & Vigfusson book used letter ö to represent the original Old Norse vowel ǫ. Therefore, hökul-skúaðr may be more accurately written as hǫkul-skúaðr.
