Norse name ‘ort,’ = a fifth part of a dollar specie, is an abbreviation of örttog]:—the name of an old coin or piece of money, amounting to a third part of an ounce (eyrir) = twenty penningar or pence, N. G. L., D. N. passim; skolu þeir báðir í ertogi (dat.), N. G. L. i. 185; see eyrir.
