Öln-liðr

Old Norse Dictionary - öln-liðr

Meaning of Old Norse word "öln-liðr" (or ǫln-liðr)

As defined by the Cleasby & Vigfusson Old Norse to English dictionary:

öln-liðr (ǫln-liðr)
also úlfliðr (q. v.), sounded unliðr, the ‘ell-joint,’ i. e. the wrist, see p. 668, col. 2, and Maurer’s Volksagen, 192.

Orthography: The Cleasby & Vigfusson book used letter ö to represent the original Old Norse vowel ǫ. Therefore, öln-liðr may be more accurately written as ǫln-liðr.
