f. a part of a sword, it is not exactly known which, perh. = friðbönd (q. v.), Edda; á valböstu (acc. pl.) verpr naðr hala, Hkv. Hjörv. 9: dat. valböstum, Sdm.: gen. valbasta, Geisli.
