n. [Dan. himmerige; Germ. himmelreich], the kingdom of heaven, Gþl. 42, Edda 149 (pref.), Th. 28; himinríkis-dyrr, -hirð, -höll, -innganga, -vist, Hom., Mar., Bs. passim; himinríkis maðr, an heir of the kingdom of heaven, 677. 3; but in mod. usage himnaríki(see himinn 2) is more usual.
