Norse Thrond: so in the Icel. phrase, vera e-m Þrándr í Götu, to be a ‘Gate-Thrond’ to one, i. e. a stumbling-block in one’s path, evidently from the story of Thrond of Gata in the Færey-Saga: in local names, Þróndar-nes, -staðir, Fms., Landn.
