m. a decoy-reindeer, used as a stale or lure to catch other deer, a απ. λεγ. in Haustl. 3, for this prob. is the sense; and this may have been the very Norse word that Óttarr (Ohthere) used to king Alfred, and which the king rendered into English by stæl-hrânas; but see hreinn.
