1. u, f. [kveite, Ivar Aasen], a halibut, flounder (heilag-fiski); kalt vatn augum en kveita (kvett or kveit. MS.) tönnum, lérept líki, in the Merman’s song, Fas. ii. 33; this is prob. the meaning of the word in this much-contested passage, and not as suggested in Aarb. (1866) 377.
