Band. 16 new Ed.; stappa e-n til dauðs, MS. 4. 32: to stamp down, þeir stöppuðu snjóinn með spjót-sköptum sínum, Fms. ix. 234: phrases, stappa stáli í e-n, to put steel into, to encourage; það stappar nærri, it ‘stamps near one,’ is on the point.
