Now often used in pl. and used of a sprout, fibre in fruits or plants; metaph. a spoilt boy is called angi, ‘a pickle:’ as to the root, cp. öngull, hamus, and the English angle: angilja, u, f. is, according to Björn, one of the bones of a fish.
