part. [is a mod. participle (16th century, see urningr below) formed from yrja, urði, urinn, = erja, arði, arinn, cp. erja β; it can therefore have no bearing on the false reading, Gsp., Fas. i. 475]:—rubbed, scratched; jörðin er öll upp urin, the crop bitten close off, as if shaven.
