β. metaph., h. í millum, what is between, as a matter of dispute or dissent, Gþl. 364; sakir stórra hluta er hér h. milli, Nj. 177, v. 1., ok h. þar í millum, run on these numbers, i. e. between the length of ten and twenty ells, Sks. 120, Anecd. 16: e-m hvarfar hugr, one’s mind wavers, Fms. x. 270.
